The Department of City and Regional Planning at TED University organized a three-day field excursion to Sinop on 23–25 October 2026 as part of the CITY 201, CITY 301, and CITY 401 Planning Studios I–III–V.

Aiming to explore the city's spatial structure, topographical characteristics, historical layers, and urban development dynamics, the excursion began with an urban walk, allowing students to experience the relationships between topography, the built environment, and public space at the human scale. On the second day, visits to the urban periphery, conservation areas, Organized Industrial Zone, and university campus provided opportunities to examine spatial patterns, land-use configurations, and the relationships between different urban and peri-urban contexts. The excursion concluded with a visit to the Sinop Historical Prison and Museum, offering insights into the city's historical and cultural heritage and its role in shaping urban memory.

Through on-site observations and spatial readings across multiple scales, the three-day excursion contributed to students' understanding of Sinop's distinctive urban context, providing a comprehensive foundation for the spatial analyses and planning and design studies to be developed throughout the planning studios.
